![]() Chargers Blank Steelers 20 - 0! The Chargers advance to their 3rd straight semi-final game looking to get over the hump against the Conshocken Steelers who were the 2001 Champions and were looking to repeat. The Chargers struck fast with (QB) McCray hitting (TE) Cornelius Couch on 52 yard post route to start the game. Carey King added 27 yards on 4 carries to put the Chargers in scoring position, but was unable finish the drive turning the ball over on downs. The Steelers started there first drive on there own 18 yard line. The Chargers defense is coming off 3 straight shutouts and is primed to do battle with the Steelers offense. After holding the Steelers without a first down on there first drive the Chargers special team standout (S) Wade Fauntleroy blocked a punt and returned it for a TD to put the Chargers up 7-0 in the first quarter. With both teams unable to move the ball consistently, the first quarter ended. The second quarter was the same. Neither team was able do anything with the ball until backup (TB) Roland Whitting took a screen pass 64 yards across the field for a TD to increase the lead to 14-0 going into halftime.Again, the 3rd quarter was much like the first half. Neither team was able to keep a drive going due to good defense and great punting by both teams. Midway in the 4th quarter (TB) Paul Northern returned a punt 21 yards to the Steelers 38 yard line. Five plays later (TB) Paul Northern went off the left side for a 34 yard TD run to bust the game wide open. The extra point was missed and the Chargers led 20-0 with 5 minutes left in the game. From then on, the Steelers was unable to mount any type of drive and the Chargers were able to run the clock out, winning the game. The Chargers will meet the Northwest Giants in the Title game next week! Come support your Chargers! |
