![]() Mustangs Tamed On a cold and windy Saturday night, the Overbrook Chargers ran their record to 7-1 with a 28-0 victory over the Frankford Mustangs. The Chargers looking to show that the first meeting between the two teams this season, which the Chargers squeaked out a 22-18 win, was a fluke can out looking to show the Mustangs what the defending champs are all about.Again the Chargers defense got the party started. RB/DB Roland Whiting stepped in front of a Mustang out pattern and raced 75 yards untouched to start the scoring. This seemed to fire up the Charger offense who, then responded with 3 - touchdown drives highlighted again by Whiting, who took a toss sweep 80 yards. Looking like he was shot out of a cannon, Whiting took the toss around right end and was gone! It seemed like he was the only person on the field and went untouched again for the score. He has turned into the Mustang killer, with 3 impressive touchdowns in the two meeting between the teams this year. Rounding out the scoring was WR Shawn Foxworth, who took a 5 - yard slant 65 yards giving the Chargers a 14-0 lead. After making the catch, Foxworth made a beautiful move on the corner and left him searching for his jockstrap. All that was left was outracing the safety, which proved to be no problem. Also, rookie RB Jonathan Dowel, scored the first touchdown of his Charger career with an 8 yard run up the middle, to close out the scoring at 28-0. The defense notched its second shutout in three games, holding the Mustangs to 95 total yards and two pass completions. The Chargers have a bye this week, with the playoffs starting on November 23. The second seeded Chargers will host the Tabor Rams on Sunday November 23 at Papa Playground. Game time is 2:30pm. Come out and support your Chargers as the play their way to back-to-back Del-Val League titles. |
