![]() Rams Turned To Sheep After another sup-par offensive performance, the Overbrook Chargers pulled out a 14-0 win over the winless Tabor Rams. With what seems to be the Chargers pattern, they scored 2 touchdowns in the final half to put away the Rams. Playing against a young and inexperienced team, this should have been a cakewalk for the high - powered defending Del-Val League Champs. However, penalties and blown scoring opportunities turned this contest into a much too close affair.QB P.J. McCray played about the worst of his career during the first half, missing wide open - receivers and failing to lead the offense into real scoring position. The running game proved equally ineffective with running backs Paul Northern, Cary King and Salaam Thompson failing to take advantage of the Rams weak defense. The second half scoring consisted of McCray hitting wide receiver Shawn Foxworth on a 55- yard bomb early in the second half. Tailback Paul Northern's 5- yard plunge into the end zone sealed the win for the Chargers. The Chargers two main highlights game from its two outstanding tight ends. Tight End Cornelius (Mann) Couch made a spectacular catch between two Ram defenders and added 20 yard after the catch to set a scoring opportunity. The Chargers also welcomed back TE Dave Spangler to the fold and his impact was felt immediately as he turned a short pass into a 20-yard gain and ran over a Ram defensive back in the process. The play seemed to energize the Chargers as the sideline erupted after the play. On the other side of the ball, the Charger defensive unit continued it outstanding play of the past few weeks. The unit limited the Rams offense to less 100 total yards, with half of those coming on penalties and allowing one pass completion and an interception by FS Jamar Griffin. C/LB Maurice Gindgrow, who turned a Rams sweep play into a helmet-popping affair, provided the hit of the game. Playing in the middle backer position, Resse played the cut back angle and leveled a Rams running back, knocking his helmet off in the process. The defenses also welcomed back captain SS Jade Roane, who has been out since week one with a back injury. This team right now does not have the look and attitude of a champion. Allowing inferior opponents to stick around it not what champions do. With every team in the league gunning for you, you have to make statements in these games. The Chargers right now lack that killer instinct and thinking teams are just going to just lay down for them is a mistake. Playing like this will not win them back-to-back titles! The Charger nation needs a wake up call before it too late. Since the League officials and its Commissioner are morons, know one knows when the next game officially is. We think it will be on Sunday, November 2 at 2:00pm - opponent and location to be determined. Stay tuned for an update. |
