Second Season Begins

The Overbrook Chargers took their first step toward repeating as Del-Val league champions with a 29-0 destruction of the hapless Tabor Rams. Playing for the first time in two weeks, the Chargers showed very little rust in routing the undermanned Rams at Papa playground on a very Un November like day on Sunday.

The weather was not the only hot thing on Sunday, the duo of QB PJ McCray and WR Shawn Foxworth, hooked up for a pair of touchdowns, including a 55-yard bomb for the Chargers first score of the day. The two then hooked up for a 5-yard score as McCray squeezed a pass between two Ram defenders in the back of the end zone to give the home a 14-0 lead at the half.

The second half was more of the same as the Chargers ground attack took over. RB Salaam Thompson's 4-yard sweep off right end gave the Chargers a 21-0 lead and his 35 - yard run, set up rookie Jonathan Dowel's two yard plunge for the final TD of the game. With the 2-point conversion, the Chargers held a 29-0 lead.

The defense again playing very well, limited the Rams to less than 100-yards of total offense and forcing two turnovers. The Rams manage five first downs the entire game, with two coming on Charger penalties.
