Chargers Roll over the Ramblers 38-0!

On a muddy field last Saturday night the Chargers up their record to 7-0.

The Chargers made quick work of the Ramblers, scoring on their first play from scrimmage when (TE) Ed Giddings caught a 10 yard pass from (QB) Demartiel and turned into a 70 yard TD pass. The Ramblers first drive ended when (LB) Maurice Gindraw intercepted a pass and returned it down the left side for a 47 yard TD to give the Chargers an 18-0 lead early in the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Chargers offense continued to move the ball on the ground with runs from (TB) Paul Northern and (FB) Salaam Thompson, who scored 2 rushing touchdown in the first half. The Chargers were able to control both sides of the ball. The Chargers led 24-0 at the half.

The Referees started the second half early due to the weather. The Chargers defense added more pressure on the Ramblers' offense, holding them to 2 completions and under 30 yards rushing, giving the Chargers' offense good field position.

In the 3rd quarter it was much of the same. The Ramblers were still unable to put a drive together. (DT) Michael Brothers controlled the offensive line, giving the Chargers linebackers plenty of space to make big hits on the Ramblers ball carriers. The Chargers started their second drive in the 3rd quarter on their own 20 yard line. (QB) Demartiel hinted to Coach Henderson to throw the ball deep. Coach Henderson agreed. (QB) Demartiel found a wide open (WR) Shawn Foxworth down the left side line for an 80 yard TD pass, late in the 3rd quarter. The Chargers pulled (QB) Demartiel to give rookie (QB) Leon Petty John his first live action in a game.
