![]() Chargers win Liberty Conference Championship! The Chargers defeated the Colts 35-0 to win their second division Conference Championships in the last three years. The Chargers will take on their archie rivals North West Giants for the DVIFL Championship on Sunday, December 4, 2005 @ Germantown SuperSite at 1000 E. Sedgwick St. Phila, Pa. Kickoff 3:00pm - $5.00 General Admission. Kids under 12 free!The Chargers came out little slow with having a bye week, scoring no points in the first quarter, and blowing a scoring opportunity on their first drive with a interception on the Colts 1 yard line. The Chargers defense set the tone, forcing the Colts into 3rd and long plays and putting the Chargers offense in good field position. The Chargers were able to put a drive together which ended with a TD pass to (WR) Troy Ham for 31 yards in the back of the end zone to take a 6-0 lead early in the second quarter. The Chargers defense continue to apply pressure on the Colts offense by taking the passing game away from them. The Chargers offensive line controlled the line of scrimmage with the running game. QB Demartiel hit (TE) Ed Giddings on a 13 yard fade route for a TD. The 2 point conversion, which Giddings also scored, ended the first half. In the second half, (FS) Dante Coles returned a kickoff 23 yards to the Chargers 40 yard line and on the first play from scrimmage, (TB) Roland Whitting went right untouched for 60 yards and a TD to blow the game wide open. Backup QB McCray scored the 2 point conversion to make the score 22-0 early in the third quarter. The Colts were in a big hole; they were unable to put together a drive until late in the 3rd quarter when the Colts QB ran off the left side for a 17 yard run, but was stripped by (FS) Dante Coles who ran 55 yds for a TD. The Chargers offense continue to control the line of scrimmage with key runs from (TB) Robert Bettis and (FB) Salaam Thompson. QB McCray replaced (QB) Demartiel late in the forth quarter and hit (WR) Shawn Foxworth for a 35 yard TD pass to end the scoring 35 - 0. |
