The Overbrook Chargers Football Organization was establishing in 1996 @ Papa Playground 68th Lansdowne Ave. Philadelphia, Pa 19151, by Head Coach Terry Henderson & Assistant Coach Vito Amicone. The Chargers joined the Del–Val Independence league in 1996 and only won 1 game against the Corydon Cardinals 12-6 in overtime, ending their first season 1-9. The Chargers continued to grow in 1997, 1998 & 1999 winning between 4-5 games the last two seasons.

In 2000, the Chargers made some moves on both sides of the ball bringing in a QB Pj McCray, WR Ed Giddings and on defense the Chargers added three LB’s Jose Montanez, Kodi Nixon and Maurice Gindraw. The Chargers made the playoffs and beat the Norristown Patriots 20-0 for their first wild card game and lost in the Semi-Finals to the Holmesburg Ramblers 10-9 in a questionable game.

The Chargers made a run in the 2001 season going 8-2 and beating the Darby Saints in the first round of the playoffs 35-0 but lost to the Northwest Giants in the semi-finals 13-8.

 In 2002 the Chargers were the talk of the town, “Can they win the big game?” The Chargers had a winning record of 7-3. They beat the South Philly Raiders 33-0 and the defending Champions Conshohocken Steelers in the semi-finals on the road winning there first semi-final 21-0. Next the Chargers played the Northwest Giants in the Championship Game coming back in the second half to win 14-13 giving the Chargers their first Championship.

The Chargers continue to be a power house organization even with league trying to destroy them. The Chargers have won Back To Back DVIFL Championships in 2005 & 2006 and are looking to continue to be the best team in the Delaware Valley area. Watch out before you get strike!!
